LIVING ON SOUL FOOD
PART III

THE NUTRITION OF SOUL FOOD

If you’ve been coasting along on a smooth ride, be assured trials may be ahead. “Yet in all things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us,” (Romans 8:37 NKJV). Bathe your mind in the precepts of God’s Word and your heart will be wrapped in confidence of His security. Adherence and obedience keeps you on God’s path for your life. “The Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path” (Psalm 119:105 NKJV). Following God’s Word strengthens the body, mind, and soul to stand firm in His righteousness, through any crisis, or pressures of daily life.

Keep yourself dressed and ready for life, with the armor of the LORD. Cling to the shield of faith standing firm in your hope, in a faithful God. Wear the gospel of peace in and over your heart covered with the breast plate of God’s righteousness, so that the LIGHT of God is reflected in your life. Protect your head with the helmet of salvation and wield the sword of the Holy Spirit, which is the Word of God. (Ephesians 6:10-17)

Whether you are a Bible scholar, comfortably familiar with scripture, or new to feeding on the wisdom and promises spelled out in God’s Word, pray for revelation. The Holy Spirit is the teacher, and He repeatedly surprises with new and refreshed insight applicable to your life. As a result, you will continue to mature in spiritual knowledge and wisdom, and reap the blessing of a more intimate relationship with God, our Father. You can be secure knowing that God is in control of all things. He will direct your path.

Long term benefits net growth in faith, the peace of God, love, patience, and God’s righteousness; so that He might do a mighty work in you. Make your delight the law of the LORD. For Psalm 1:2-3 (NKJV) says, “But his delight is in the law of the LORD. And in His law he meditates day and night. And he will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither, and in whatever he does, he prospers.” Time spent reading the Word and talking to God is absolutely essential to staying plugged into His divine and majestic power.

This most encompassing prayer for wisdom, written by Apostle Paul to the Ephesians Church, is one that you can personalize, as you seek enlightenment from God. Pray:
“that the God of our LORD Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you (me) the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your (my) under-standing being enlightened; that you (I) may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints (those set apart as true born again believers), and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places…” (Ephesians 1:17-20 NKJV)

You forfeit an abundant life on earth, as well as eternal life in heaven, if you ignore the precepts of God. For Christ said, “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:26-27 NKJV)

Proclaim the blessing of a tree firmly planted by the streams of water, prospering, yielding fruit, and remaining evergreen (Jeremiah 17:7-8). Follow Christ with a yielding and prayerful heart.

May you prosper and live all your days in a glorious experience and love relationship with our LORD. To Him be glory forever. Amen

Until my next post, peace unto you and those you love. God Bless.
